　　A section of the Great Wall in northeast China, dubbed the most beautiful "wild" Great Wall, has recently been found to be a "flat road".

　　A photographer, who has been shooting the section for 15 years located on the boarder between Liaoning and Hebei provinces, said he found the rugged walls cemented over after he went back recently to take photos of this Xiaohekou section of the Great Wall of China.

　　While the repair and restoration project was carried out in 2014, it wasn't until this photographer's photos went viral recently was this story brought to light. The photos shocked the Internet with many expressing regrets or saying "it is even worse than damaging the Wall".

　　Local authorities in the city of Huludao insisted "every step" of the restoration work was conducted according to related laws and regulations, when questioned by the Beijing Times.

　　They also explained that the restoration is an emergency response as the section has been severely damaged with time and may also pose danger to visitors.

　　The Beijing Times also says that the provincial authority is sending experts to investigate on site.

　　Dong Yaohui, deputy director for the Great Wall of China Society, told the Beijing Times that the restoration was done in a very "simple and crude" way.

　　Dong also said, "It damaged the original look of the Great Wall and took the history away from the people," calling the work "absurd".

　　He pointed out that there is no quality standard in regards to the Great Wall's restoration, which is a major cause of the flattened Xiaohekou section. Dong said although the local government was "well intentioned" it showed a the need for the Chinese Government to take a more regulatory approach to any restoration or repairs of the Great Wall.

　　The Xiaohekou section of the Great Wall was built in 1381 and stretches 8.9 kilometers.

　　It is rarely seen by the public as this section is located in a remote part with lofty hills in northeast Liaoning province, but is often referred to as the most beautiful "wild" Great Wall section.
